Brno - Czech Republic |
The manufacture of Zetor
tractors started before the second world war in the city of Brno in the province of Moravia which is now part of the Czech
Republic.
After the second world war Czechoslovakia was taken by Russia behind the "Iron Curtain" and
for several decades its people who had already suffered severely in the war, suffered the restrictions and hardship of
a communist regime.
With the fall of communism Czech industry became very attractive to other major European
companies as the Czech's had always been noted for their engineering skills. Volkswagon bought Skoda, Continental Tyres bought
Barum Tyres etc. but the Czech government wary of Zetor being absorbed into another major tractor company and the famous brand
name lost, sold Zetor to a Slovak engineering company HTC Holding. HTC holdings is a major industrial group
with substantial interests in engineering, in particular the production of bearings & machine tools, aviation, electrical
engineering and machinery & component manufacture.

Tractor Production Line |
During recent years the Zetor Tractor Plant in the historic city of Brno has undergone a transformation.
Engineers who had previously been employed on a project to set up a factory for Sony in the neighbouring Slovak Republic,
were brought onto the board of directors with a strong focus on introducing advanced manufacturing technology, professional
management and improved product quality. This team is continuously evaluating every aspect of the production and management
systems in the factory and the improvements they have acheived in a short time is impressive.
